It's been a funny old day.
Jessica had a lie in this morning so we were able to have one too! We got up at 8.30. Decided we wanted to have breakfast out so went to the Toby Carvery for their buffet breakfast. Jessica enjoyed her "s'age and beans" and kept asking for more beans (even when her bowl was full of beans.) We enjoyed our food but had to rush at the end as Jessica climbed out of the high chair and kept trying to go and get "more milk!" I'm not sure the other dinners enjoyed Jessica's vocal aerobics so we left quite quickly.
After breakfast we decided to go for a walk down the Embankment to join in (or watch) the Remembrance parade/ service- it's another year that we haven't made it to London, maybe next year eh?! Our parade doesn't go through town like it used to which seems a shame. Do you remember when I was a flag bearer? We had to walk all through town and then down the Embankment!
We noticed they had a large artillery gun or something similar near the bridge but I wasn't prepared for how loud it would be. They fired it to mark the start of the silence- it was so loud I jumped and said (quite loudly) "Holy Moly..!" Jessica then kept saying "more bang, more bang" something she has said a lot this week due to all the fireworks. We left soon after the silence as Jessica was restless and I had visions of her ending up in the river as she kept wriggling out of her buggy.
Dad had invited us round for dinner this afternoon, we called in to see you on our way. Jessica came for the first time. There were other people around so we didn't stay long but we'll be back soon.
Dinner was as it always is- stressful, frustrating and slightly chargrilled (even the Yorkshires were singed!!) Conversation was strained but "the girls" were a good distraction.
People are discussing Christmas and what to get for who. As you know I love Christmas and would normally be the one chairing these discussions but I can't think about it. If it was down to me no one would get anything this year but I know I won't be able to do that. Where do you get all your quirky presents from? I think I'll try and make presents for people this year (I know I say it every year and it never goes according to plan but this year I have more time so.....!!)
It's Darren's birthday soon so I asked him to remind me what he wanted as I couldn't remember the 3 things he had said. He disappeared for about half an hour and came back with a long list- he's worse than a child! Spent most of the evening on e-bay checking out the prices for everything- meant I didn't have to watch the second Lord of the Rings film!! I've bought a couple of items already so fingers crossed they'll be ok.
We haven't got anything planned for tomorrow so will pop and see you at some point.
I love you and miss you. Stay close.
